More about the D-Day Memorial:

Located in Bedford, Virginia, the National D-Day Memorial honors the bravery and sacrifice of Allied forces during the June 6, 1944, Normandy invasion. Bedford holds a unique place in history as the town that sustained the highest per capita D-Day losses in the United States, making it a fitting home for this solemn tribute.

The memorial features an English garden, an invasion tableau, and the prominent Overlord Arch, symbolically recreating the D-Day journey from planning to battle to victory. These elements guide visitors through the stages of Operation Overlord, evoking the intense experiences of those who fought.

Visitors can explore the 88-acre site, which includes evocative sculptures, plaques, and a reflective pool, all designed to deepen understanding of the D-Day operation. Guided tours and educational programs are available, offering insights into the events that shaped the course of World War II.

Open year-round, the National D-Day Memorial is a must-visit for history enthusiasts and those looking to honor the legacy of the Greatest Generation. Plan your visit to this significant site in Bedford, VA, and experience a moving tribute to heroism and freedom.
