[54] A Norman nobleman whose motto is "Vernon Semper Floret", sometimes "Ver Non
Semper Floret", accompanied William of Normandy to England, fought at the
Battle of Hastings, AD 1066, and was rewarded by a grant from Hugh Lupus of
the Barony of Shipbrooke, Cheshire, England, lands then held by the Saxon
Lords of Leftwich.
